isn't etsy great? you can pretty much find anything there. it's such a great source of inspiration. i like knowing that when i buy a product on etsy i am supporting independent artists and craftsmen. i wish i had the time to see everything that's out there, but here are a few things that have caught my eye as of late!

Music To My Ears

 

this week i have started really planning out lucas's birthday. usually he is the one who gives the most thought out gifts or plans the best surprises, but this time, especially since it's his 30th birthday, i really want to make things special. we are having the party at our friend's house, steven and monica. i have a prettty sweet surprise planned, so i can't wait! i have already given him one gift--it was supposed to be a surprise, but he found out because of circumstance beyond my control. (trying to use his email account to buy something on craigslist wasn't the best idea i guess:) only a week until the big day!

I AM LOVING...MAE WHITMAN

 how cute is she? have you seen parenthood? i love her character. if mae is anything like she is on the show, we need to hang out. and let's not forget to mention that she always has the coolest hair:) mae had a short part on scott pilgrim vs. the world that totally rocked, and this year she will be appearing in the movie adaptation of  'the perks of being a wallflower,' which i am totally stoked to see. miss whitman will also be doing the voice-over of april o'niel in the upcoming 'teenage mutant ninja turtles' tv show, which my husband is totally stoked to see:) and if that isn't awesome, i don't know what is.

MOVIES PLEASE

i heart movies! i wish there was enough time in the day to actually watch everything that i want to see. here are a few that are on my list.

MELANCHOLIA

i will always love kirsten dunst. she is a girl after my own heart. this movie is beautifully shot and also stars charlotte gainsbourgh, keifer sutherland, and alexander skarsgard. the story is part drama part science fiction, really different from most movies i've seen lately.

THE GANGSTER SQUAD

i still haven't seen 'crazy, stupid love,' but any movie with emma stone and ryan gosling is a winner in my book. also starring nick nolte, giovanni ribisi, and sean penn! this is a period piece taking place in the 1940's and 50's, so i am also looking forward to all of the pretty dresses and red lipstick:)

GAINSOURG--A HEROIC LIFE

you know those people who just ooze cool? serge gainsbourg is one of those people. who knows how accurate this story of his life will be, but i'm betting the time period is going to make for some great eye candy.

New In The Store

AROUND THE HOUSE: OUR LIVING ROOM

i love seeing other people's houses. oftentimes i think i have an idea of what someone's home will look like, and i end up being totally surprised when i see it in real life. lucas and i used to know at least three other people who lived in the same apartment complex as us, and all of our apartments, same layout and size, still managed to look so different! 

i feel like my apartment with lucas is my first real home. every other place i've lived i've had roommates and used most of their decoration and furniture, which had always been fine. but it was so nice having our own place and being able to decorate and furnish the apartment exactly how i wanted. God bless lucas for pretty much letting do whatever i wanted with everything:)

i never knew until we got our apartment what a nester i was! the first thing i did when we moved in was concentrate on making our new place feel like a home. i am always on the lookout for another new little something to add to our apartment. and i am constantly rearranging and redecorating things. for me, the place i live is very personal, and i want it to have a certain feeling just being there. here is a little peek into our living room:)

lucas had this couch for years before i met him. he got it from his grandparents and, instead of a bed, he slept on this couch! it was one of the only things lucas had to have in the apartment. i actually do like it though, and luckily it fits in with the rest of our stuff pretty well:)

lucas got me this orchid for our anniversary and it is already dying! i can never keep any type of plant around for too long, even succulents! the framed pictures are a couple of our engagement pics.

there are books all over our apartment.

this 'home sweet home' sign is my newest project in our apartment. i cut the letters out of an old map and taped them to the wall!

banjo was my model for most of the shoot:)

this bookshelf used to belong to lucas's grandparents and this chair is part of a set that we got at a garage sale--score!

ikea vases and fake flowers. i would like to say that they are real, but flowers be expensive these days y'all!

lucas's parents used these cameras when they were missionaries in the canary islands. i like it that a lot of things in our apartment have a story.

as much as i love our apartment, i am looking forward to the day that we have an actual house. maybe next year?! what's your place like?

Fill In The Blank Friday

hello friends! how has your week been? this week has been very relaxing for me. i've had off tuesday, wednesday, and thursday! mostly i've been doing really exciting stuff like cleaning the house and getting my car aligned:) in recent news, i've lost yet another piece of technology-- the first being my internet, the second being my laptop, and most recently my iphone. i dropped it in the pool, and even though i immediately placed it in a tupperware container full of rice, it has gone to be with the 'big apple' in the sky.

i can't help but wonder though, is this a sign? is God telling me stop being so consumed by my online guilty pleasures? who knows. i am pretty bummed that i won't be able to watch all of my shows on hulu. the nerd in me has really been looking forward to the new fall programming and getting to watch parks and recreation and parenthood again. am i the only one?

but back to the business at hand...i haven't done one of these in a while. it was pretty fun thinking of all my blanks. sometimes i like to quiz lucas to see if he knows what my answers will be:) if you would like to take part in the fun, just go to the little things we do and follow her instructions!

1.   One thing that is completely superfluous, but that I could never give up is    coffee. i feel like that is so predictable, but it's true. coffee is like my little safe haven, my little treat that is always accessible.

2.  Gossip    makes me feel awkward.    i hate having to awkwardly change the subject when someone is badmouthing someone else, especially someone i know and like!

3.  I can't    function    without    some food in my belly. i am also not the most cheerful either:)

4.  chips and salsa    is my favorite snack.    although what i snack on usually changes from week to week.

5.  Lately I've been   having a hard time reading my bible. but i kinda feel like i always have a had time reading it:) ah me!

6.  If at first you don't succeed    don't be like me and get discouraged and want to move on to the next project!.

7.  Fall is    usually not my favorite time of year, but this year i am so looking forward to it!

New In The Store

i finally got to put up some new stuff in my store! go check it out!

I AM LOVING...RENOVO BICYCLES

on our san francisco trip lucas and i also went to sausalito, a small town just across the golden gate. it is such a charming, picturesque little community. walking around we came across an interesting looking bike store named renovo bikes. these bikes are unlike any i have ever seen. they are custom-made in portland. oh, and did i mention they are made of wood? so cool!

San Francisco Treat

i am going to admit that i am pretty proud, and surprised, that i actually am posting pictures of our trip. even though there are so many pictures i feel like this covers only a smidge of everything we saw. i did forget to pack the battery charger so we do only have pictures of the first two days. i can't imagine how many photos we would have taken had we had our camera the whole time! lucas and i made it a point to take lots and lots of mental pictures:) and those are the best kind.

it drives me crazy that these pictures are not sized the same, but i don't have my laptop anymore, hence the lack of a sufficient program to size pictures. i had gotten a virus on my laptop earlier this summer, but i was still able to work on it. now the battery has completed died, which i am pretty sure is connected to the virus. i am just happy i have access to any computer at all right now!

i am also happy to say that i have been feeling in better spirits these last couple of days. i am currently house-sitting, so the change of scenery has been nice. i also was able to take lots of pictures of new clothing for my store, which i am really excited to share with you guys. i hope you are having a fabulous week--God bless you all!
